About TP

Some say that midlife crisis leads to questioning one’s life purpose.  Tamara Peros was 55 when ceramics entered and forever changed her life.  When both her children left home to pursue their studies abroad and her administrative job no longer brought any satisfaction, her old artistic talents emerged as a new life’s calling. She turned her large kitchen and dinning hall into a workshop and put herself to work.  The inspiration came naturally and her hands began turning clay into beautiful objects.  Though she is mostly self-taught, she perfected her skills through various ceramics courses with various professional artists and teachers in Croatia and Italy.

All her art pieces are entirely hand made. The hand-building process is free form and unplanned, which leads to creating a completely different piece, each with its dramatically unique set of curves and posture. It’s important to bear in mind that it’s virtually impossible to properly capture the features of Tamara’s vases, bowls, plates and other objects in a photo format. One has to touch them, feel them, use them to bring them to life.

As she was progressing on this artistic path, a new idea was born: turning her sculptures of different shapes and sizes into scented candles. She found a local partner that produces eco-friendly sun-flower vax with infusion of different scents of natural sandalwood.  The candles have a long life span that can go between 24 hours to several days, depending on their size and shape.  She named her candles “PiKoS”, (Prirodna keramicka svijeca).
